The Ministry of Interior on Friday has said that the national flag of Pakistan cannot serve as the trademark or design for any political party or institution, a news channel reported.
According to certain laws made in 1957 and 1964, the dignity of the national flag has been legalised, according to the channel. The national flag is allowed to be hoisted at private buildings only on March 23, August 14, December 25 or other gazetted holidays, it can however be hoisted upon the residences and vehicles under the use of the President, Prime Minister (PM), Governors, Ministers, Chairman Senate, Speaker and Chief Election Commissioner on regular days.
According to the law, the national flag can be hoisted on normal days only upon state buildings such as Parliament, provincial assemblies, courts and other governmental buildings.
Former member of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) and former mayor of Karachi, Mustafa Kamal on Thursday in a press conference with Anees Qaimkhani announced that the political party he intends to launch will use the Pakistani flag as its official flag.
