A member of the Ahmadi minority community was stabbed to death in Sheikhupura’s Kot Abdul Malik area on Tuesday.
According to details, two unidentified assailants attacked Qamarul Zia, 35, with a dagger as he came out of his house, leaving him in a pool of blood.
The deceased, who was the only bread winner of his family, is survived by a widow, a son and two daughters.
In 2012, Zia had also been attacked by some local religious extremists after which he left the area for a brief period of time.
Mazhar Ali, brother of the deceased, said that the attackers were from the same locality and one of them has already fled the area.
Zia’s family said he had been receiving threatening calls from unknown numbers since long.
Police investigation officer Javed Ahmed said that Qamar’s body to the morgue for autopsy after registering an FIR on the complaint of Mazhar Ali against unidentified accused.
The police official said the family of the deceased is claiming that the murder is a result of religious hatred, however, it is premature to say this since the investigation is underway.
