Amendments in NAB’s law imperative for early disposal of cases: minister

Federal Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid said on Friday that amendments to the National Accountability (NAB) law are imperative for timely disposal of old cases

Speaking in the National Assembly on Friday, the minister said that a total of 2,593 cases of the government’s employees across the country had been referred to the NAB but that only 229 had been disposed of during the last five years. Hamid said that around 233 cases in Rawalpindi, 332 in KP, 366 in Lahore, one in Multan, 700 in Quetta, 545 in Karachi and 416 in Sukkur were referred to the NAB. He also hinted that the government was mulling to introduce a legislation to amend the NAB law.

Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) provides 0.3 million connections every year to consumers but “we are trying to add further connections”.

State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab said that the 59 km Burhan to Havelian expressway project will be completed by the end of November.
