Central Power Purchase Agency (CPPA) on Wednesday suggested a reduction of Rs 3.38 per unit in electricity prices in March.
The CPPA forwarded a summary in this regard to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) recommending the reduction under the monthly fuel adjustment for January.
It said that per unit cost of electricity production through high speed diesel was Rs 12.20, on furnace oil, it was Rs 6.28 while on gas, the cost was Rs 6.01 during January. Similarly, the cost of nuclear electricity production was Rs 1.12 per unit while power imported from Iran was Rs 10.60 per unit. The reference price decided for January was Rs 9.86 per unit.
The CCPA, in its summary, said the average power production was recorded at Rs 6.48 per unit and recommended to NEPRA to give a relief of Rs 3.38 per unit to the people in March.
NEPRA will hold a hearing on March 1 into the matter.
