KP minister promises education for every child

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Elementary Education Muhammad Atif Khan has said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led provincial government’s educational policy was meant to ensure access of basic and quality education to each and every child across the province and for the purpose all available resources were being utilised.

Chairing a meeting regarding issues of Elementary Education Foundation (EEF) here, the minister said that all educational projects meant for promotion of education would be completed within the stipulated time at all costs.

The meeting was also attended by Education Secretary Afzal Latif, Additional Secretary Qaisar Alam, EEF Managing Director Allah Nawaz Soomro and authorities concerned of the respective departments.

The EEF MD, on the occasion, besides briefing the meeting on the activities, performance and successes of the Foundation, identified its issues and problems. He informed the meeting over the progress on the projects being carried out under the umbrella of EEF.

The meeting was told that so for 1,200 girls community schools had been made operational and 300 more schools would be included by April 2016. Similarly, under the Farogh-e-Taleem Education Vouchers Scheme, vouchers to 13,000 out of 30,000 students of six districts of the province had been given while target of 30 thousand would be achieved by June 2016.

Likewise, under Tameer-e-School Programme, Rs 10 billion were being spent on missing facilities in government schools and so far 30 schools out of 64 schools had been completed while remaining 34 schools were in the completion stage.

It was further told that establishment of Literacy Centre in Peshawar Jail had also been finalised and very soon qualified teachers amongst the prisoners would be recruited for the purpose.

The minister directed the authorities to expedite work on the projects of EEF without any further delay and extend the activities to the entire province so as the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa could get its benefit.
