Two lawyers admitted to attacking student leader Kanhaiya Kumar when he appeared in Patiala House courts last week, stating they’d beat him for three hours while he was in police custody.

Jawaharlal Nehru University Student Union (JNUSU) president Kumar was arrested on sedition charges last week for organising an event on Afzal Guru, leading to his arrest and an assault on journalists attending last Wednesday.

One of the lawyers, Vikram Singh Chauhan, bragged about the attack in a video recorded by Indian media.

“We beat him up so hard that he wet his pants,” Chauhan can be heard saying, adding that they had thrashed the student until he said “Bharat Mata Ki Jai“.

Separately, lawyer Yashpal Singh claimed he “will not leave him [Kumar] even if I am charged with murder. I will even bring a petrol bomb [the next time Kumar is presented in court]. He added that would refuse bail only so he can go to jail and beat Kumar up in his cell.

“We beat up journalists, beat up JNU professors … everyone,” he admitted.

A third lawyer, Om Sharma, was also in the recording.

Singh confesses that police “was fully supporting us” when the attack on Kumar took place.

“All I know is that if you live in this country, you will have to talk [in favor of] this country.”

  1. The data you have on this site is good to the point that I wouldn't see any problems with paying to have the capacity to get to it. Extraordinary asset, at any rate. Shouldn't whine. Much appreciated.
