Jail Road signal-free corridor masterpiece of transparency: CM

Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif Monday inaugurated the project of Jail Road signal-free corridor.

Addressing the citizens and labourers on the occasion, the chief minister said that like other projects of the Punjab government, Jail Road signal-free corridor is a masterpiece of transparency and standard. He said the PML-N government under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has promoted the trend of completing public welfare projects speedily. Sharif said that the criticism on the public welfare projects is, in fact, opposition to development and prosperity of the people. He said that those criticising public welfare projects unjustifiably have no concern with welfare of the people. He said that public service that is the vision of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is being forwarded.

The chief minister said that fuel will be saved due to Jail Road signal-free corridor and more than 400,000 vehicles will pass from the signal free corridor. He said that modern traveling facility will be available to the citizens due to completion of this project. Sharif said that Jail Road signal-free corridor project is an important element of ongoing programme of Punjab government with regard to improvement of infrastructure. He expressed happiness over the quality of the project. He vowed that public welfare projects will continue with same speed and high quality.

Sharif appreciated the performance of DG LDA with regard to high quality work and said that the hard work of contractors and labourers who worked on the project is also laudable. The chief minister after inaugurating the project also took round of Gulberg Flyover. Khawaja Ahmed Hasaan, DG LDA and DCO Lahore were also present on the occasion. It may be mentioned that the length of the project is 7.5 kilometres whereas 12 U-turns have been constructed and the project was completed at a cost of Rs 2395 million.

Meanwhile, talking to a delegation of office-bearers and workers of PML-N, Sharif said that due to the solid economic policies of the government, national economy has strengthened and today’s Pakistan is more safe and developed than 2013.

He said under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan will become strong economically. He said that due to wrong priorities of former rulers, country and the nation faced problems. The chief minister said that people have rejected those creating hurdles in the journey of development and prosperity of the country. He said that those who pushed the country into darkness cannot see the country progressing.

He said that work is being carried out speedily on energy generating projects for coping with energy crisis. He said that foundation-stones of gas-based power plants have been laid in Haveli Bahadar Shah in Jhang, Bheki and Balloki in Sheikhupura whereas work is continuing speedily on Sahiwal coal power plant. He said that 1320 megawatt electricity will be generated from this coal power plant and this project will be completed in 2017 before stipulated time.
