Federal Minister for Finance Senator Ishaq Dar has emphasised the need for efficient utilisation of foreign financing and timely completion of the development projects without any delay.
He was chairing a high-level meeting on Sunday to review performance of Economic Affairs Division (EAD). The secretary EAD briefed the finance minister on the on-going interaction with various multilateral and bilateral development partners relating to different development projects.
The meeting reviewed the on-going foreign-funded project portfolio and felt the need for expediting disbursements under these projects. The meeting was informed that the EAD had been regularly following project executing agencies and the provincial governments to resolve the issues hampering the expeditious implementation of projects. The details of various projects in the pipeline were also presented for which negotiations were underway with development partners. The finance minister directed the EAD to keep close liaison with implementing agencies to ensure that projects were implemented as per timelines and delays were avoided.
