Medicines prices increased after SHC granted stay order, NA told

Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Saira Afzal Tarar on Wednesday apprised the National Assembly that the multinational pharmaceutical companies have increased prices of medicines in light of stay order granted by the Sindh High Court (SHC).

Responding to a calling attention notice raised by Dr Muhammad Azhar Khan Jadoon and others regarding the increase made in the prices of medicines by multinational pharmaceutical companies, she said viewpoint of the health ministry was not taken into account while granting stay to the drug companies.

She said the companies could not increase prices in the presence of already announced drug policy 2015.

“Today, the case is listed before the Supreme Court,” the minister said, and added that the ministry had requested the Apex Court to club all such cases.

She said the attorney general had also been contacted and that the next hearing would be held on February 23.

  1. Increase in medicine is popular in third world countries. There is no management that's why this type of things happens. Anyway, i would like to inform this blog owner that his blog is helpful for me. Keep it up.
