Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed has said that construction of additional classrooms in 2,500 schools having maximum rate of enrollment of girl and boy students in the province will be completed during current year.
He said that the number of new classrooms will be ascertained by keeping in view the number students in every school.
He expressed these views while presiding over a review meeting of affairs of provision of missing facilities in schools on Sunday. Secretary Education Abdul Jabbar Shaheen and officials concerned were present on the occasion. Rana Mashhood said that additional classrooms had been constructed in five thousand such schools during the last year which had maximum enrollment of girl students. He said that now, this need of students is being fulfilled in remaining 2500 schools.
He said that missing facilities will be provided in 7500 schools of all the 36 districts of the province at a cost of Rs. five billion during current fiscal year. The Minister said that 70 primary and middle schools are being upgraded in Punjab this year. He said that due to these phase wise steps, prominent improvement in school education system will be witnessed and it will be another step towards the success of Chief Minister’s Programme “Parho Punjab Barho Punjab”.
