UN – Our Qalandar Correspondent: The United Nation’s High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) declared a state of emergency on Saturday as millions of Lahoris fled the city after being disgusted with the performance of their team, the Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League.

“We are witnessing one of the biggest migrations in the world,” said Filippo Grandi, the UNHCR chief. “Only because it is within a single country, we should not lose sight of the scale of the problem.”

Matters are further complicated by the fact that the district administration, including the District Coordination Officer and several key members of the provincial cabinet, who were supposed to be organising the massive exodus of people, are amongst the refugees.

“Another troubling aspect of the matter at hand is the fact that Quetta, the city that most of the refugees are shifting to, is already ill-equipped to handle its own population,” added Grandi. “This increase is going to be too much to handle.”
