Widespread rain with thunderstorm and snowfall crippled life in northwestern upper parts of the country on Thursday.
According to Met Office, heavy snowfall was recorded in hilly areas of Malakand Division, Hazara Division, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.
Popular tourist destinations of Naran, Kaghan, Shogran and Murree also received heavy snowfall, with many roads blocked, including Shahrah-e-Karakuram.
Mansehra city in Hazara Division also received 6 to 8 inch snowfall after many years.
Heavy rainfall occurred in upper Punjab, including Islamabad and Rawalpindi and different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, increasing intensity of the cold. Light snowfall also occurred on the capital’s Margalla Hills.
Rain triggered landsliding in areas of Malakand, Hazara divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
Scattered rain (with snowfall over the hills) is expected in upper KP (Malakand, Hazara, Mardan divisions), upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala divisions), Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
Mainly cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country. However, light rain (with snowfall over the hills) is expected at a few places in Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir in next 48 hours.

Below freezing temperatures were registered in: Parachinar and Quetta -04, Gupis, Murree, Dalbandin, and Kalam -03°C, ands Kalat, Dir, Malamjabba, Drosh, and Nokkundi -02.
