Singh govt to recruit 300 doctors, para-medics for JISM: CM

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali said has said that the provincial government is going to appoint more than 300 staff including specialists, doctors, para-medical and such other staff to start indoor services in Jacobabad Institute of Health Science (JIHS).

“The people of Sindh consider this project as a great US gift and service to the people of Northern areas of Sindh.”

Syed Qaim Ali Shah was speaking during his meeting with US Consul General Brian Heath and Deputy Mission and Director USAID and Project Director Sindh & Balochistan Craig Buck who called on him at the CM House on Friday. The meeting was attended by Minister for Health Jam Mehtan Dahar and Secretary Health Saeed Mangnjo.

The chief minister said the building of 150-bed JIHS was a unique one. “Its OPD is working properly and it has helped a lot to reduce growing work load on Civil Hospital Jacobabad,” he said, and added: “We are thankful to US government for giving such a gift for the people of Northern Sindh.”

The consul general said that he was very much satisfied with the working of the hospital. He said he was keen to see its indoor activities so that patients could be admitted there. On this, the chief minister said that preparations were afoot to recruit specialists, doctors, para-medical and other staff so that indoor activities could be started.

Commenting over the grievances of the people of Tharparkar, Qaim Ali Shah said that over 1.6 million people were living in the desert area. “We, despite our limited resources, have developed the area, established more BHUs, dispensaries, upgraded taluka hospitals and have made Mithi Civil hospital equipped with necessary gadgets, medicines,” he said, adding that the issue was social and cultural.

He said that the Sindh government had installed 400 RO plants to provide them safe and clean water. “Some 400 RO plants were not enough for the area but at least 700 RO plants are required to cater the needs,” he said. The consul general and USAID director said they were working on Thar and would help the government to further improve the situation in the district.
