All Army Public Schools and schools under the Federal Garrison Board across the country have been closed for three days, a statement said.
According to the announcement, the educational institutions will reopen on Monday, February 1. The statement, however, did not specify any reason behind the sudden closure of the schools.
The move comes a day after the Punjab government ordered schools shut for five days.
The closure also comes days after gunmen carried out a deadly terrorist attack on the Bacha Khan University in Charsadda, raising speculation that the schools may have been closed due to security fears.
But the Punjab government insisted that the schools were ordered shut across the province due to cold weather and not because of security fears.
