Islamabad – Our Tax Evaders Correspondent: Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, representatives of the nation’s tax evaders expressed their great dismay at the sad state of affairs of the country today.

“It breaks our hearts when we see incidents of terror and general lack of governance,” said Saim Buhkari, the president of the National Tax Evaders Collective (NTEC.)

The NTEC is an association representing the interests of the nation’s largest demographic, which is estimated by the OECD to be about 0.5 per cent of the population of 200 million.

“Every day, we see lapses in government and no attention being paid to the schools and hospitals.”

“What we want to ask the government is why they have to keep taking out loans from foreign agencies and increase our national debt,” asked Bukhari passionately. “Furthermore, why does the government impose such heavy indirect taxes, like GST and other excise taxes?”

“This is a clear indication that the government is made up of people who have no sympathy in their hearts for the people of the country,” he added. “And absolutely no sense of introspection and self-awareness.”
