At least 12 people were reported dead after consuming toxic liquor in Lahore on Tuesday.
Police said that the deceased included residents of Youhanabad, Nishtar Colony, Asif Town, Bihar Colony and Modern Colony, while another man was under treatment at Jinnah Hospital. The patient was said to be in critical condition.
Officials said that all of the victims purchased liquor from the same man two days ago. After they consumed the liquor, they fell ill and were taken to different hospitals.
The deceased were identified as Gohar Masih, Boota Masih, Shakil, Aslam, Sunny, Nabeel, Sunny Masih, Shehzad, Asim, Samuel and Akram. The identity of two more persons is yet to be ascertained.
Police shifted all the dead bodies to Jinnah Hospital for post-mortem, where it was confirmed that they died of consuming toxic liquor.
