Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Monday claimed that the federal government has saved $11 billion because of cheaper oil prices in the international market.
Speaking to a gathering after inaugurating the Bab-e-Peshawar flyover in Peshawar, Imran Khan accused the Nawaz government of not conveying the direct benefit of lower oil prices to the common man, and saving billions in recent months.
The PTI leader criticised the federal government for borrowing $4 billion in loans within just two-and-a-half years. “The real change lies in human development and not in the construction of roads and bridges, as has been wrongly instilled in the minds of the people by the current federal government,” he lamented.
Imran also lauded the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister standing up to the federal government for seeking a due share in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project. He said that it was a step taken to ease the suffering of the poor people. “The poor provinces should get their due share in all development projects.”
“We are investing most of our funds in the education and health sectors in KP,” he said. “Because providing the best education and health facilities to the people of the province is our topmost priority.”
Further, Imran pointed out that despite the hurdles for reforms in the provincial health sector, the people of KP will see a real change within the next six months in public hospitals as those obstacles have been removed.
