An anti-terrorism court on Monday granted a 10-day physical remand of Moazzam Ali to FIA in Imran Farooq murder case.

The court ordered the authorities to present the culprit on 28 January. Comprehensive challan in Dr Imran Farooq murder case was filed in the court.

According to the challan, Mohsin Ali Syed has been declared the key culprit while Khalid Shamim and Moazzam Ali planned the murder of Dr Imran Farooq. The interim challan had nominated Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain, Muhammad Anwar and Iftikhar Hussain.

It may be noted that accused Shamim and Mohsin Ali, who are in the custody of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), had confessed to the crime in front of the judicial magistrate on 31 December.

Shamim admitted that a key MQM personality wanted to get Farooq out of his way. He said that the directives to assassinate Farooq came from London. He further admitted that Kashif attacked the victim with a knife.

Dr Imran Farooq, a founding member of the MQM, was stabbed to death in Edgware, northwest London in September 2010.
