Interior Ministry declares steps taken under NAP as productive

The Interior Ministry said on Sunday that the government is vigorously implementing the National Action Plan (NAP) to help the country get rid of the menace of extremism and terrorism.

In accordance with a report issued by the ministry Sunday on the objectives achieved under the NAP, 332 terrorists have so far been executed under the anti-terrorism act while 98.3 million SIMs have been blocked as part of efforts to dismantle communication network of terrorists.

It said funds had also been allocated to strengthen and activate the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) and steps were being taken to establish a joint investigation directorate (JID).

The report further said that 2,337 people were registered over hate speeches and material. It detailed that 322 persons had been held and Rs 354.56 million recovered in efforts to choke terror financing.

It further said that a uniform registration procedure had been developed and shared with the relevant stakeholders for registration and regulation of seminaries.
