Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government was planting trees in the province while the Punjab government was focusing on Metro Bus and Orange Line Train projects to get ‘commission’.

He claimed that over 110 million trees had been planted in the province as the WWF (World Wildlife Fund) had declared the KP tree plantation successful to the extent of 85 per cent.

Talking to media after inaugurating the billion tree tsunami plantation campaign here, Imran Khan said that the enclosures of planted trees in the forests were flourishing as they were looked after by the local people. The youth, women and elderly were being paid for growing plants and taking care of the nurseries, he added.

He said there were only 5,000 trees in Changa Manga, which once had about 75,000. The forest land in Rajanpur had been illegally occupied while some 40,000 pinewood trees had been cut down in Murree division, he alleged.

The PTI leader it was up to the people to decide as to who was working for their benefit.
