Five police constables were injured in a hand grenade attack on a police van in Shagai area of Swabi district on Saturday.
Security officials said some unidentified miscreants riding on a motorbike hurled a hand grenade on a police van patrolling near a fuel station, wounding five constables.
Law enforcers and rescuers rushed to the crime site and started relief activities. The injured constables, Aftab Ahmad, Jamshed Khan, Muhammad Ishaq, Asmat Ullah and Rashid, were ferried to the District Headquarters Hospital where they were stated to be stable. The police van was also damaged in the attack. A search operation was launched to nab those involved in the attack.
