The local residents are facing great hardships and difficulties by the sewerage water which inundated main MA Jinnah Road on Tuesday.

The sewerage water has caused flooding on the road and created severe traffic jam. Frustrated citizens were stuck in the traffic for several hours due to the rising water level. The roads of the area were drowned with water but the administration has not taken any action despite filing complaints by the residents.

They lashed out at the authorities and demanded to resolve the matter at the earliest. Earlier, a water pipeline burst on Monday which caused flooding in Karachi’s administration society. According to details, the incident took place when the Karachi water board ensured supply to the administration society due to which water provision was halted to the other areas. The pipeline blew up while it was being repaired at 4 am. According to the residents, the authorities have not taken any action despite approaching them several times.

SHOPKEEPERS TAKE TO STREETS

The shopkeepers of Super Market Liaquatabad on Tuesday protested against overflowing sewerage water which entered into their shops.

According to details, the shopkeepers of Super Market protested against the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) for its failure to stop overflowing sewerage water that later entered into a number of shops in the market. The shopkeepers threw junk and stones on the road near Shell petrol pump closing the road for traffic which resulted in long queues of vehicles. They shouted slogans against the KMC.

They said that overflowing gutter water was destroying their goods and no consumer would visit their market due to foul smell of dirty water. “We are suffering losses day by day but the KMC is not listening to our complaints,” they regretted. Police reached on the spot and after successful dialogue with protestors the KMC staff was summoned to open the chocked gutters. Later, the protestors dispersed peacefully and the police opened the road for traffic.
