The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Sunday asked the provincial governments of Punjab and Sindh to notify the number of reserved seats for completion of the local government (LG) election process.

An ECP spokesman, in a statement, said that neither the Punjab government nor the Sindh government had notified the number of reserved seats, as required under the law.

In case the same were not notified, the ECP would notify the reserved seats on its own and issue the election schedule for the same on Friday, he added.

He said that the ECP had already appointed presiding officers who would administer oaths to elected members on the coming Thursday. After that, the ECP would issue the schedule for reserve seats, he added.
