Punjab govt spending billions of rupees on education: CM

A delegation of students of Govt Degree College Khuzdar, Balochistan which is on a visit to Punjab, met Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif here on Thursday.

The chief minister gave laptops to students of Balochistan and their teachers on behalf of the Punjab government. Talking to delegation of students, the chief minister said that Pakistan comprises four units and the development of all provinces is essential for progress of the country. He said there is a need for collective efforts for progress and prosperity of Pakistan. He said that youth are future of the country and there is need for maximum investment in the builders of the nation. He said the Punjab government has provided funds worth billions of rupees for education, training and empowerment of youth as it is vital for the progress of the country. He said that the nation has high expectations from its young generation and they should work hard, get education and also learn various skills as the developed nations of the world have made progress on the basis of education and skills. He said it is the need of the hour that every Pakistani should work hard for ensuring a prominent status of the country in the comity of the nations.

Sharif said the Punjab government has allocated special quota for boy and girl students of Balochistan, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan in its educational programmes. He said all units of Pakistan have been included in the revolutionary programmes like Punjab Endowment Fund, Daanish schools, laptop scheme, study tours of talented students to foreign countries and cash prizes for position holders. He said this step of Punjab government has promoted national unity, brotherhood and inter-provincial harmony. It is collective responsibility of all citizens to live as one nation and strive for the progress and the prosperity of the country, he added. He said it is time to learn from the past mistakes and think about the future.

Meanwhile, CM Sharif has constituted a committee for conducting inquiry into cylinder blast in a factory on Sheikhupura Road near Gujranwala.

The committee will submit a report after thorough investigation and also identify the elements responsible for negligence. The committee will submit its report within three days. Provincial Minister for Labour will be the convener of the committee while its members will include Secretary Labour, Secretary Industry, DG Rescue 1122 and DCO Gujranwala.
