The launching ceremony of Pakistan Stock Exchange will be held on January 11, a meeting chaired by Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar was informed the other day.
Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) Chairman Zafarul Haq Hijazi informed him about the arrangements made for the launch ceremony of Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited.
The minister said that launch of the Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited marks the achievement of a significant milestone.
He said that with appropriate and continued reforms, this achievement would facilitate development of Pakistan’s capital and financial markets besides strengthening the economy.
He said that the unity displayed by the stakeholders for successful establishment of the single unified stock exchange was highly encouraging.
He also hoped that foreign counterparts would see the unified stock exchange as a profitable investment partner, given the improving economic and capital market landscape of the country.
The minister on the occasion also directed the SECP chairman to submit a report on recent events related to a brokerage house in Karachi.
Other matters relating to overall working of SECP also came under discussion.
Senior officials of the Ministry of Finance also attended the meeting.
