IG reviews implementation of warden system

A meeting headed by Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera held at Central Police Office (CPO) here on Tuesday reviewed implementation of warden system for the better traffic management in the province, change of police uniform and the progress of Dolphin force.

Briefing regarding the imposition of warden system across Punjab, Addl

IGP Traffic Punjab Rai Altaf Hussain said that the traffic warden system had already been operational and working successfully in six districts Lahore, Gujranwala,Multan, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Sialkot.

He said 4,787 Punjab Traffic Police officials had been given the  status of wardens and with the approval of the government for recruitment of 1,000 new wardens, the total figure would reach 5,787, which enabled the traffic police to employ the warden system in rest of 30 districts.

The meeting also short-listed two various colours and patterns for the change of police uniform whereas it was decided that the new uniform would be properly registered so that the sanctity and authority of the police uniform could be maintained.

On this occasion, DIG Operations Lahore  Haider Ashraf briefed the meeting that the training of Dolphin Force would be completed by the mid of February 2016 and the inspection process of the 300 motorcycles purchased for the Dolphin Force had also been completed.

The meeting reviewed the process of establishment of front desks in 141

police stations of five cities Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi and Multan. In this regard, AIG Finance Hussain Habib Imtiaz told the IGP that all districts concerned had been conveyed that the construction of buildings for these desks will be identical.

He also told that all recruitments would be made through NTS.

Additional IGP Operations and Investigations Arif Nawaz, Additional IGP Welfare and Finance Sohail Khan, CCPO Lahore Amin Wainse, DIG Headquarters Farooq Mazhar, DIG Welfare Jan Muhammad, AIG Operations Waqar Abbasi, AIG Logistics Humayun Bashir Tarar and other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
