The Punjab government has directed the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to raze illegal residential and commercial buildings.

The Punjab government has taken notice of the issue after growing complaints from citizens that illegal buildings have popped up with the connivance of some RDA officials. A source in the RDA said that the provincial government has ordered the RDA to demolish one illegal building on Church Road, three in Milat Colony, three at Sohan Ara on GT road, two in Gulzar-e-Quaid on Airport Road and one building in Gulrez.

RDA said that illegal buildings whose maps have not been approved and have been constructed in violations of building by-laws will be flattened.
