Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman has stressed on the need for removing concerns of all stakeholders over the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Fazlur Rehman said that the CPEC is a project of national interest and all provinces should equally benefit from it.

He said that the government must satisfy all stakeholders over China’s investment in Pakistan in various development projects, especially CPEC.

The JUI-F chief called for the development of a national consensus for economic development in the country, which he said was the need of the hour to overcome the prevailing crises.

Fazl said that reports of change in the CPEC project route have created distress among political parties, and their reservation must be removed.

“We don’t want deadlock over the issue, but the government should also inform the stakeholders about the realities in this regard and avoid obscuring the facts,” he added.
