Punjab govt utilising all resources for welfare of public: minister

Provincial Minister for Housing, Planning and Urban Development Tanvir Aslam Awan has said that due to mutual contracts of Pakistan and Turkey, infrastructure in Punjab is improving and important sectors including public health has made remarkable progress.

He said that deep cultural, historic and friendly relations exist between Turkey and Pakistan. He said that Turkey has supported Pakistan in every hour of trail and is extending cooperation in a number of social development sectors of Pakistan.

He expressed these views while presiding over a technical session regarding technical assistance by senior officials of Housing Development Administration Turkey TOKI for construction of 50,000 low-ost houses in Punjab. Secretary Housing, Secretary Communication and Works and officers concerned were present on the occasion.

The minister termed the agreement signed between Punjab government and TOKI, prominent institution of housing sector of Turkey, a welcome step and said that Punjab government will benefit from their experiences in housing sector. He said that problems are created due to lack of facilities with the ratio of population in the cities and Punjab government is utilising all out resources for welfare of common man. He said the Punjab government launched Aashiyana Housing Scheme for providing the facility of roof to poor man and hundreds of houses have been constructed for homeless persons. He said the Punjab government wants to construct 50,000 houses with the cooperation of TOKI for homeless Pakistanis within next two years. The minister welcomed technical cooperation by TOKI for construction of low-cost houses and said the Punjab government will provide all-out facilities in this regard.
