As many as 172 primary, middle and high schools from all the 7 tehsils of district Rawalpindi lack electricity facility.
Sources said that Punjab government had sought lists from district education department Rawalpindi in respect of government schools from all the 7 tehsils which are running without electricity.
These schools include 25 from tehsil Murree, 52 from Kotli Sattian, 13 schools from tehsil Kahuta, 13 from tehsil Kallar Syedan, 16 from tehsil Gujjar Khan, 2 from tehsil Taxila and 20 schools from tehsil Rawalpindi.
Punjab government has approved funds over Rs 12 million for supply of electricity to 141 schools in the first phase and in the second phase funds amounting to over Rs 2 million will be provided for electrification of 31 schools.
