Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Monday that the National Action Plan (NAP) will continue to be implemented with the same enthusiasm in the country.
According to details, the interior minister said that implementation of NAP will continue with full resolve and determination. He said that NAP is not a plan of an individual, political party or a group, it is the voice of the whole nation. He said that law and order situation has greatly improved due to NAP. Nisar also ordered to accelerate the process of collecting statistics about all the points of the Plan.
Earlier on Friday, Chaudhry Nisar had informed the National Assembly (NA) that the government and clerics’ bodies had agreed on registration of seminaries and syllabi.
He said that the federal government welcomed constructive criticism. Nisar assured every single member of the parliament that he did not take offense of any piece of criticism.
Nisar said that development in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) depends on the government’s decisions. The government has kept its focus to bring progress to FATA.
Responsibility for effective implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) is his, he added. The interior minister said that he would present a progress report regarding NAP in the Senate in the coming week.
A passport office would be established in Balochistan’s Sherani District by June 2016.
He said that he still stands by his stance that US sabotaged the peace process. Pakistan had been turned into a country where wrongdoings were easy while ‘rightdoings’ were harder to be done, he added.
Nisar said that keeping one’s name in the Exit Control List (ECL) for more than three years would not be fair. More than 10,000 people have been taken off from the ECL, he added.
Hundreds of non-governmental organisations (NGO) were functioning in the country and the Ministry has taken necessary measures to keep an effective check. He said that an online registration form had been issued for the NGOs. At least 127 NGOs had applied for registrations in the recent past, he added.
The minister said that organisations that are approved by the government can function in the country. The ministry also maintained a check on issuance of visas to foreigners, he added.
Nisar said that any illegal immigrants who are found without proper documentation would be sent back. The government has not barred any country from deporting illegal Pakistani immigrants. However, he said that deportees from Bulgaria, Australia and Greece who did not have required documents were sent back.
The federal minister said that there should be no discrimination against Pakistani abroad. Nisar promised to write letters to European countries’ interior ministers regarding the matter.
Nisar Ali also said that around 400,000 unverified licences of weapons had been issued since 1977. The ministry had also declared eight thousand licences for weapons to be bogus. He said that licenses of prohibited weapons were also issued in the past.
He announced to launch a proper campaign against illegal weapons from January 2016. All the unverified licenses would be cancelled in January.
While talking about communication devices and SIMs, Nisar said that at least 115 million SIMs had been registered in the country while 90 million SIMs had been blocked. A case would also be launched against any person who issued SIMs illegally, he added.
The federal minister also talked about success of Operation Zarb-e-Azb in the National Assembly. He said that a military operation alone could not improve the situation and the ministry had formed a policy in this regard.
An all-party conference was called on December 17 and several clerics brought positive ideas to the table. However, he stressed the need to consolidate intelligence from various agencies in war on terror.
