Effective measures underway for ending load shedding: CM

Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan Muslim League-N government, led by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, is taking effective measures for ridding the country of load-shedding.

He said that under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, 1,320 MW coal-based powerhouse is being set up in Sahiwal and work is in progress on this project expeditiously. He said that a coal power plant in Sahiwal will be completed in 2017 whereas with the completion of gas-based power plants in Haveli Bahadur Shah, Bhikhi and Baloki, a total of 3600 MW electricity would be available. He said that these projects will be completed in 2017-18 and will greatly help in overcoming load-shedding.

He was talking to elected representatives of Pakistan Muslim League-N here on Monday. The chief minister said that the Punjab government is setting up a gas-based power plant of 1180 MW at Bhikhi, Sheikhupura with its own resources while the federal government is working on power plants to be operated with gas in Baloki and Haveli Bahadur Shah. He said that completion of these projects under dynamic leadership of Nawaz Sharif will help in overcoming energy crisis and elimination of load-shedding from the country.

Sharif said that in the implementation of 3600 MW gas-based projects being set in Punjab up under the leadership of PM Nawaz, Rs 110 billion of the poor nation have been saved which is unprecedented in the country’s history. He further said that work is being carried out round-the-clock for removing darkness and terrorism from the country and the whole nation is witness to this fact. He said that besides coal power projects of 1320 MW in Sahiwal and solar projects in Bahawalpur, work is also in progress on power projects in different areas of the country including Port Qasim and Thar.

Sharif said that economic package of billions of rupees given by China reflects the confidence of Chinese leadership in Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and deep love for the people of Pakistan. He said that Pakistanis will never forget this historic package of China. He said that due to policies of Premier Nawaz, the confidence of foreign investors has been restored and local and foreign investors are coming to Pakistan due to which the country will greatly benefit.
