Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday said that the tribal people has the right to decide fate of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), whether to merge FATA into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa or form separate province comprise of tribal regions.
Addressing at a ceremony held in Chief Minister House in Peshawar, Imran Khan assured to form a committee with the collaboration of tribal parliamentarians for reforms in FATA.
Imran Khan demanded separate package for development projects in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
Khan advised the authorities to launch development projects in FATA according to the locals’ requirement. He said that the projects should be in phases so that long-lasting outcomes can be achieved.
Showing solidarity with tribal areas, PTI chief said that these areas have always been left alone and that no one has focused on their prosperity.
On the other hand, Member of National assembly (MNA) Shah Gull Afridi said that a particular group is against FATA reforms. He said that some people of FATA still have reservations over government’s steps taken for progress of the region.
Earlier, Khan said that despite of recognizing errors in the local body polls Election Commission did not took any action against those responsible. He urged the people to vote for PTI to bring a change and also to expose Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) rigging that took place in General Elections 2013.
He reiterated that fair and transparent elections are not possible unless and until action is not taken against those associated with it.
