Superstar Salman Khan is known for his stand on social issues, philanthropist deeds and love for children. This year on his 50th birthday, he will be doing all these at once.

The Bajrangi Bhaijaan star who got acquitted in 2002 Hit & Run case recently, will ring in his birthday on December 27 in a low affair with close friends and family at home. But, he is planning to make it a big event otherwise.

Salman will kick-start a cleanup drive, on the lines of PM Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan on his birthday. He will be nominating over 500 volunteers on social media to join him as the de-facto mascot for the campaign.

Today, Salman Khan again invited entries for the campaign on his twitter and Facebook page.

Notably, Dabangg Khan started his own drive on November 01, before the release of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, and asked the fans to spruce up their neighbourhood and told them to ‘Be good – do good’ .Further, he asked them to send in pictures and promised goods in return from his charitable trust.

“This is not a sudden decision following the acquittal. Both Salim and Salman have been working in the areas of education and healthcare for the underprivileged in Mumbai for a while now. The foundation already supports Akshara High School and the NGO Aseema, providing schooling to 500 students. Next year this number will quadruple,” a spokesperson was quoted as saying by a leading daily.

And not only this, Salman is also planning to start up the process to move the slums of Mumbai from next year, starting from Dharavi. The campaign is currently being planned at Khan’s Bandra residence, every decision is being closely monitored by his father, Salim Khan.

As per reports, Rs 1 crore fund has already been formed for the slum rehabilitation programme. Under this, the surrounding area will be cleaned up plus books, healthcare and hygiene facilities will be provided to the people living in the slum which include street children, orphans and pavement dwellers.
