Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Haider Jamali has dismissed over 5,000 cops in 24 districts of the province allegedly recruited on political basis and in sheer violation of the merit.

These cops were performing their duties for the last one and half years. As many as 24 officers of the recruitment board allegedly involved in the crime have also been served notices.

The measures of dismissal were taken after senior police officials in 24 districts of Sindh provided solid evidence of political influence and violation of merit in the recruitment of these policemen to the top police official of the province. According to details, no proper rules were followed in these recruitments and the candidates not fulfilling the criteria – domicile and upper-age limit – were inducted in the force.

It was also revealed that a written test answer papers were also not duly signed by the examiners and the chairman recruitment board.

It may be mentioned here that these cops received training at the police training schools and performed duties for about one and half years in the province. Majority of the dismissed cops are also accused of giving bribes of Rs 3,00,000 to 5,00,000 to the recruitment board officials.

The IG took this action after receiving Supreme Court of Pakistan’s orders. The report of dismissal has been submitted in the registry office of the Supreme Court in Karachi.

It is important to note that the Sindh High Court on Tuesday indicted IG Ghulam Haider Jamali along with his eight subordinates in a contempt of court case.

  1. So far the greatest compliments to PPP of Mr 10%. Some days ago, some 900 policemen who paid Rs five lac each to a SSP for recruitment, were also dismissed. Don't know if they are also included.
