In view of the growing security concerns, the Rawalpindi Police have set up additional check posts, installed security cameras at all entry and exit points of the city and started intense monitoring to ward off any untoward incident.
According to details, the police have intensified monitoring of all entry points from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Rawalpindi by establishing three new pickets. Besides, some 18 new surveillance cameras have been installed at the Police Lines. Two cameras have been installed at the interchange that connects with the motorway.
Similarly, additional pickets have been set up at Tarnol and Chakri and cameras have been installed to monitor movement of vehicles. Surveillance cameras have also been installed at Margalla picket. Traffic coming from Islamabad and Lahore through the motorway is being checked at Chakri interchange.
SP Potohar Atiq Tahir said that all these CCTV cameras were night vision surveillance cameras and monitoring was being done at the control room set up in the CPO Office.
Sources said the purpose of installation of surveillance cameras at the Police Lines was to keep a close watch at the activities in the area. They said that in the second phase cameras would also been installed at the police stations.
