71 eateries fined for poor hygiene

Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration has fined 71 eateries in various areas of the federal capital for selling unhygienic food items in the last two weeks.

According the details, food and health departments of the ICT had conducted a total 436 food outlet inspections in the city and also partially sealed two fish stalls besides issuing warning notices to other 61 outlets for not properly following the food security laws.

The teams also confiscated filthy and broken utensils and expired soft drinks during the campaign.

The health departments also took 38 samples of various food items and sent them for laboratory analysis.

Meanwhile, drug inspector, Islamabad conducted 31 inspections of drug outlets and took samples of eight drugs for laboratory analysis. The sanitary inspectors also delivered lectures on public health and highlighted the importance of hygiene and sanitation in preparing food.
