The Federal government on Thursday declared that the special court judge seat was ‘vacant,’ in the Musharraf treason case.

The Federation has sent a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), asking that a new judge be appointed, and informed that Justice Faisal Arab, who was previously on the case, will no longer be able to hear the case because he has become a judge of the Supreme Court (SC).

It was also demanded that as many as three senior judges of High Court be hired, as only two judges, i.e. Justice Tahira Safdar and Justice Yawar Ali, are currently working in special court.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) also submitted an initial report to the registrar in this regard and requested that they announce another timeframe for the probe.

Pervaiz Musharraf’s counsel Faisal Chaudhry filed a plea pertaining to the return of the surety bonds submitted by the former president, which was dismissed by the registrar due to the absence of the full bench.

Subsequently, the registrar adjourned the hearing of the case until January 13.

  1. The circus goes on. Does any one in Pakistan think that there is going to be fair trial any time soon? He is a living example of miscarriage of justice in Pakistan.
