Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan alleged on Tuesday that the Sindh government was not extending Rangers’ policing power in Karachi in order to hide its corruption.
Talking to media at the residence of PTI leader Jahangir Tareen in Lodhran, Khan applauded the paramilitary force’s efforts in combating criminal elements and observed that the Rangers had succeeded in preserving peace and order in Karachi.
He said the Sindh government was afraid of the Rangers as they could eliminate the cancer of corruption from Karachi.
The PTI chief further said that peace in the country could be attained only by stabilising the trade sector for which a well-developed foreign policy was required.
Responding to a question, Khan reiterated that Pakistan would not compromise on the Kashmir issue, adding that he had met Prime Minister Modi on the invitation of Indian Embassy. He was also of the view a cricket series between Pakistan and Indian teams would definitely reduce tension between the two countries.
About National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq’s anti-Election Commission statement, Khan said that Sadiq’s remarks had ensured PTI’s victory in the upcoming by-election in the NA-154 constituency.
