Educational institutions across Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan will remain closed on Wednesday, December 16, to mark the first anniversary of the Army Public School (APS) Peshawar massacre that killed 144 students and staff.

Moreover, upon the directives of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, all the federal educational institutions will commemorate “Shuhada-e-APS day” on December 16.

The spokesperson of Sindh’s education department announced that all educational institutions in the province will remain closed, while a notification from the Punjab government also said that all schools, colleges and universities in the private and public sectors would observe a public holiday.

The KP government has also announced a public holiday for all educational institutions across province.

The holiday will be observed in memory of the students and staff who lost their lives in the horrific attack staged at the APS Peshawar campus last year.
