The Sindh Education Alliance (SEA) has announced to start second phase of its massive struggle from today (Wednesday) to press the government for acceptance of its demands which included issues faced by the primary teachers and other lower school staff.

The SEA includes the All Sindh Primary Teachers Association (ASPTA) and All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) of Education Wing. In this connection, SEA convener Intezar Chilgri and PTA’s central general secretary Liaquat Deedar told reporters on Tuesday that schools and all education offices would be locked for three days from December 16 to 18 throughout the province.

All teachers and lower staff will boycott their duties, and hold protest demonstrations in all taluka headquarters of Sindh. They said from December 19, a hunger strike for 24 hours would be started in front of Karachi Press Club on daily basis in which 50 teachers and staff would take part on turn by turn basis from each district.

They said in the first week of January, the Sindh Education Assembly would be convened in which all parliamentary, political and nationalist parties’ leaders would be invited along with literary figures and intellectuals to discuss their problems and they will be taken into confidence on the issues faced by them and the education.

They further said that the on second day of the assembly they would start a long march from Bhitshah to Karachi. They said some of their demands were accepted by the education department bosses after their Karachi sit-in few days ago but these had not yet been implemented. They said a number of teachers and staff had not yet been paid their monthly salaries.
