Kristoffersen takes slalom World Cup win ahead of Hirscher

Henrik Kristoffersen claimed victory in the first men’s slalom race of the World Cup season as the Norwegian saw off the field by more than a second in Val d’Isere.

Kristoffersen clocked 51.66 on his first run before laying down a time of 47.21 for a total of 1:38.87 with Marcel Hirscher his closest rival finishing 1.09 seconds back.

Third on the day went to Germany’s Felix Neureuther who takes 60 points from the day with Hirscher claiming 80 and Kristoffersen 100.

There was a 12th place finish for British skier Dave Ryding who clocked a combined time of 1:42.22 while America’s David Chodounsky missed a podium spot, finishing fourth and 0.87 second back on Neureuther.
