Govt utilising all resources to end energy crisis: CM

A delegation led by Director Political Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Denmark Jesper Moller Sorensen called on Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif at Islamabad on Thursday.
Cooperation in energy sector particularly wind power between the Punjab government and Denmark was discussed during the meeting. The Danish delegation expressed interest in investment in energy sector particularly in wind power project. Danish company Vestas Pakistan will set up 1000 megawatt wind power project in Punjab.
Talking to the delegation, Sharif said the government is utilising all-out resources for coping with energy crisis. He said that special attention is being paid to generation of electricity through alternative sources for elimination of loadshedding. He welcomed the interest of Danish companies for investment in energy sector. He said the Punjab government instead of aid, is pursuing the policy of promotion of investment and mutual trade.
The chief minister said that special incentives are being given to investors in energy sector in Punjab. He said there is a vast scope of investment in energy sector for Danish companies in Pakistan. He said Danish investors should benefit from the facilities being provided for investment in energy sector. He said that expeditious completion of energy projects is top priority of the government.
Sharif said that like other energy projects, the government also wants to complete wind power projects with transparency and speed. He said that all possible assistance and facilities will be provided to Danish company Vestas Pakistan for setting up wind power project in Punjab. He said that friendly relations exist between Pakistan and Denmark and these relations will further strengthen with the implementation of wind power project. Director Political Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Denmark Jesper Moller Sorensen speaking on the occasion, said that there are vast opportunities of generation of energy through wind in Punjab and Danish companies have done a lot of work on it. He appreciated the facilities provided by Punjab government for power generation projects through alternative sources. He said that there are close relations between Denmark and Pakistan. He said that economic relations between both the countries will further improve with the cooperation in energy sector.
Danish company Vestas Pakistan is one of the largest wind turbine manufacturing companies in the world and this company is interested to transfer wind technology to Pakistan. Charge d Affairs Helle Nielsen, Commercial Consular Asar Qureshi, Commercial Advisor Aslam Pervaiz, Director Vetas Pakistan Imran Shafiq and Saleem Anwar were included in the delegation.

Korean ambassador calls on Sharif: Korean Ambassador to Pakistan Song Jong-Hwan met Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday. Matters of mutual interest, promotion of bilateral relations and cooperation in agriculture, livestock and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) sectors were discussed in the meeting.
The Korean ambassador on behalf of his government assured all-out cooperation to Punjab in agriculture, livestock and SMEs sectors. The chief minister said that there are strong friendly and economic relations between Pakistan and Korea and the time has come to further strengthen economic and trade ties between the two countries.
He said that exchange of delegations is of vital importance for the strengthening of economic and trade relations between Korea and Pakistan. The chief minister welcomed the offer of cooperation by Korea in agriculture, livestock and SMEs sectors and said that Punjab wants to benefit from Korean technology in these sectors. He said village movement model of Korea has been very successful and the Punjab government wants to benefit from this model. He said Korean technical assistance will be fully availed for the promotion of SMEs. He said that SMEs management and the use of modern technology will be promoted with the cooperation of Korea.
Song Jong-Hwan while speaking on the occasion said that Korea is ready to promote cooperation with the Punjab government in agriculture, livestock and SMEs sectors while the experience of village movement model will also be shared. He said that Korean investors are ready to invest in different sectors in Punjab. Provincial Minister for Agriculture Dr Farukh Javed, Chairman Planning and Development, Secretary Livestock, Additional Secretary Agriculture, Chief Executive Officer Punjab Investment Board and authorities concerned were present on the occasion.

WHO country head pays tributes to Sharif: A delegation of WHO led by Country Head Dr. Michel JJ Theirene during meeting with Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid rich tributes to him on taking comprehensive steps for improving public health sector.
Members of the delegation said that solid steps taken by the Punjab government under the leadership of Sharif are appreciable and due to these steps, performance of health sector has improved considerably.
They said that the steps taken by the Punjab government under the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif for the improvement of health sector are not only visible but full attention is being paid to the provision of quality healthcare facilities to the people. They said Sharif is personally paying attention to organising health sector on sound footings and providing quality treatment facilities to the people which is laudable.
