One of Bollywood’s top singers, Shankar Mahadevan, reportedly suffered a heart attack and was admitted to a hospital in Delhi on December 6.

Shankar was rushed to the hospital after he complained about chest pains. He is currently recovering after undergoing angioplasty.

Without delving into details, his son Siddharth told the media, “It was mainly due to exhaustion. Dad underwent angioplasty on the first day itself when he was hospitalised. Thankfully, there weren’t any major blockages. He is recuperating well and the doctors said he would be discharged within a day or two,” reports Hindustan Times.

Reports also claim that Shankar suffered two back-to-back heart attacks.

The 48-year-old singer took to Twitter on Tuesday to announce that he is on the road to recovery and thanked his well-wishers for supporting him while he was going through a “health problem”.

His spokesperson also confirmed the news saying, “Yes he has been admitted to Delhi hospital, he was feeling uneasy and the doctor advised him for an ECG (electrocardiogram) check up and then asked him to get hospitalised for a couple of days, but he is perfectly fine, and will be back in Mumbai soon. We request to respect the privacy.”

The National Award-winning singer is a part of Bollywood’s most coveted trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
