As many as 437 patients of Hepatitis C and 206 of Hepatitis B have been registered at the Hepatitis OPD/Clinic of the Chandka Medical College Hospital who require treatment for this killer disease.
During current month, 26 new cases of Hepatitis C have been detected along with 15 patients of Hepatitis B who too have been registered for getting treatment after proper diagnostic tests. In this way, 5,708 patients have so far been registered since the chief minister’s programme for treatment of hepatitis started at this sentinel site in Larkana out of which 4662 were of HCV and 1046 of HBV.
At the moment, 402 patients of Hepatitis C and 157 of Hepatitis B are under treatment and so far 4,388 patients have completed their treatment out of which 3,704 were of C and 684 of B and as many as 388 have so far defaulted which include 310 of C and 78 of B.
This information has been sent to provincial programme manager of the Hepatitis programme in Hyderabad. As many as 23 of C and 10 of B have completed their treatment during the current month, the report added. Except Micro Plate Reader & Washer, Chemistry Analyzer and Micro Plate Incubator nothing has been supplied to this vital center where number of positive patients is continuously rising.
