Sindh Government has established “Sindh Stone Development Company” which would develop a 300-acre state-of-the-art Marble City Industrial Enclave to promote the marble and granite sector in the province.
Sindh Board of Investment Chairman Dr Asif A Brohi said that the Marble City Project would be executed under the Special Economic Zones Act 2012.
Talking to Italian Ambassador to Pakistan Stefans Pontecorvo in his Sindh Board of Investment office, he said that the Marble City project had a tremendous investment and growth potential for entrepreneurs.
“The concept is based on cutting edge stone technology and custom facilities to create the largest and most technologically advanced industrial park for Dimension Stone (Marble and Granite) in Karachi,” the chairman said.
He said that the project would create more than 15,000 job opportunities. A total of 170 small marble processing units along with training centre, warehouse, and common facilities would also be established in the Marble City.
The Ambassador said on the occasion that Italian investors were keenly interested to invest and trade in Pakistan especially in Sindh.
He said that Italian investors had also shown their interest for investing in value addition in textile, agro technology, agri business, dairy farming and milk production along with other sectors.
Later, Sindh Board of Investment Director General Iftikhar Shallwani said that three-day international business round of negotiations would be held in March 2016.
This conference will showcase the investment prospects which exist in different sectors of Sindh. He requested the Ambassador of Italy to invite the Italian businessmen and investors to attend the event.
