FATA judicial system needs improvement: Senate body

Senate Standing Committee on States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) stressed the need for bringing improvement in the judicial system of FATA to facilitate the citizens of the area.

The senate body meeting was held here at the parliament house under the Chairmanship of Senator Hilal ur Rehman and attended by senators Saleh Shah, Taj Muhammad Afridi, Malik Najmul Hassan, Ahmed Hassan, Liaqat Khan Tarakai, Sitara Ayaz and high officials of the FATA Secretariat and Federal Minister for SAFRON Abdul Qadir Baloch.

The senate body also showed concern over the different schemes launched without consulting the stakeholders. The suggestions about local body election in FATA were also discussed to address the problems being faced by the local communities.

Secretary FATA Planning Shakeel Qadir Afridi informed the committee that over 58 employees of health department in FATA were sacked for being absent from their offices. He said that more than 6,000 schools in FATA and 34,000 teaching staff were working at the institutions, while majority of staff remained absent at the schools. Various steps have been taken in this regards to monitor the system, he added.

Human Resource Audit Committee would be constituted within a month and Army, FC and Education Department would monitor the schools and check the attendance of teachers.

Senate body also constituted a four-member body which would review the relating matter of education and health and submit the report to the committee about the irregularities regarding financial and recruitment matters.
