Administration to launch massive operation against encroachments

The district administration Sukkur has decided to launch a massive operation for removal of encroachments from graveyards in the city and has also sought the provision of funding for construction of boundary walls around the retrieved land.

The decision was taken in a meeting held with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sukkur Shahzad Fazal Abbasi in the chair on Friday.

Others who attended the meeting included assistant commissioner (ACs), taluka municipal officers (TMOs), district manager, auqaf officials of the North Sindh Urban Services Corporation (NSUSC) and others.

Addressing the meeting, DC Abbasi said that the anti-encroachment action was being taken in the light of directives from Commissioner Muhammad Abbas Baloch. The meeting directed SSP Tanveer Hussain Tunio for keeping a special squad of police on alert in police lanes to avert any unpleasant incident during the operation.

Furthermore, the taluka municipal administration was directed to provide heavy machinery. All administrators of towns were directed to ensure their and their staff’s presence in offices.

The meeting also sought amount for the construction of boundary wall around the retrieved land during the operation to prevent future encroachments in the graveyards. The meeting also decided to lodge registration of formal FIRs against the encroachers.
