The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday challenged the results of seven union councils of Islamabad.
“We have challenged 7 UC chairmen/vice chairmen results which were suddenly altered overnight after PML-N was effectively exposed by PTI,” Khan said in a tweet.
“We will never have free and fair elections until ECP is independent & depoliticised and unless those indulging in crime of rigging are punished,” he added.
In the first-ever local bodies’ elections held in the federal capital on Monday, the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz bagged 19 seats while the PTI managed to secure 17 seats. Thirteen UC seats were won by independent candidates.
Khan had said his party would put up its candidate for the election of mayor in Islamabad.
