PO killed in Mardan, 22 suspects held in Peshawar

Mardan Police on Saturday claimed to have killed a proclaimed offender during an encounter, while Peshawar police also arrested 22 suspects during search operations in the suburbs of the provincial capital.

According to police sources, on a tip off, the police started search operation in Sheikh Maltoon area of Mardan early Saturday morning to arrest the accused. The proclaimed offender open fired at a police party, injuring a police official ASI Gohar. The police also retaliated to the firing and killed the accused. Injured police official was shifted to hospital.

Meanwhile, the security forces carried out joint operation in the suburbs of Peshawar and arrested 22 suspects including five Afghan nationals, who were staying illegally. The police also recovered weapons, drugs and motorcycles from some of the suspects.
